Information About Voting in the 2018 General Election

Here is some important information about voting in the 2018 General Election from the Whitman County auditor and the ballot packet:

  • Ballots for the Washington State November 6, 2018 General Election were mailed out across the state on Friday, October 19.
  • Please fill out and return the ballot that has been mailed to you. Return information, including a pre-addressed and prepaid envelope, is provided in the ballot packet. (The ballot may state that postage is required, but the postage has already been paid.)  Even though a ballot can be accessed through MyVote/MyBallot , that site is primarily intended for Overseas and Military voters.  To use MyVote/MyBallot, click on the MyVote/MyBallot link and log in (with your name and birthdate) and follow the onscreen directions.
  • If you do not receive your ballot by Friday, October 26, 2018, call your local county elections department.
  • Please do not request a replacement ballot until after Friday, October 26, 2018 unless you are going to be away from your home and unable to receive your mail through November 6.
  • If you are not currently registered as an overseas or US Military voter (even if you used MyVote/MyBallot to get a ballot),  you must return your physical ballot through the mail or one of our drop boxes. You cannot return your MyBallot by email, fax, or by any electronic method.
  • After you have submitted your ballot, check your mail daily for any mail sent by your county elections division. If there are any problems with your submitted ballot (if you did not sign the oath on the return envelope, if your signature does not match what we have on record, or if the ID you provided cannot be verified), you will be sent instructions by letter on what you need to do to fix the problem so your vote can be counted  before the election is certified.
